new year, new blog

It's a new year, and of course everyone's trying their hand a new things.  I'm no different.  This Florida Wild concept has been gnawing at me for a while now, and I've only just today done more than reserve the page name.  Well, I should give myself full credit:  I had also put up a header pic.

The biggest problem (other than laziness and busyness) with getting started, was that I couldn't really grasp exactly what I was going for.  There are so many avenues I could have traveled down, and I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to approach this.

After a lot of thinking, I've somewhat narrowed it down and finally created the blog pages that will hopefully eventually bloom into a larger, fuller resource.  One that seems to be lacking.  One that could help or inspire people who find themselves in the same place I'm in, or one very similar.

So, the pages that made the cut in the end are:

-Blog Home.
-Florida Locavore.
-Going Green.
-Backyard Adventures.
-Wildlife Conservation.
-Recipes.
-Photography.

Blog Home...well, that one's pretty obvious.  I also intend to use this landing page to relay my own personal experiences in "living the Florida lifestyle", as Bealls puts it.  Sharing things I experience in Florida culture, food, wildlife, shopping, etc etc etc.

Florida Locavore is intended to be a resource for finding local farms, farmers' markets, shops, restaurants, etc.  I've had to do endless hours of searching to find these places myself, and thought a handy list would be helpful...not only for myself, as a future reference, but for others as well.

Going Green will be pretty-much what you'd think.  A guide to going green--or at least green-er--in Florida.

Backyard Adventures will be sort-of vacation version of locavore.  All the fun, entertaining, exciting things you can experience within just a few short hours' drive of anywhere in Florida.  There's so much to do here other than just theme parks, and you can support local businesses at the same time.

Wildlife Conservation has always been a passion of mine.  I was raised loving animals, and alligators, that constant symbol of Florida, were always a favorite.  One day I'd love to evolve this into Florida Alligator Rescue, a concept I've been tossing around for years and years.  But for now, this will just be a resource for Wildlife Conservation information and groups that are already established in Florida.

Recipes will feature my own experimentations in using locally-grown foods to make mouthwatering, healthy meals.

Photography will feature my own snapshots of Florida life.

And that's all she wrote!  That's the full concept...for now.  It's always possible that it could evolve and change, but I'm happy with how it sits for the time being.  And now I'm off to start getting the information gathered to make this everything I'm envisioning that it can be.  If you have suggestions or ideas, feel free to pass them on.
